WA 001: Jeep in the Westfjords where we will be driving on rough but magnificent country roads in the oldest part of the country. The trip lasts for three days with flight, full board, accommodation, driving and guidance included. An extra possibility is kayak-paddling in the calm fjords by the beautiful seaside. We can take kayaks with us on the trip and paddle whenever we like on the way. Exploring nature from the sea is a wonderful experience with seals, birds and occasionally whales passing by.

Day one:
We depart from Ísafjörður, the capital of the West Fjords and drive directly to the village of Þingeyri. From there we go across Hrafnseyrarheiði mountain road to Arnarfjörður fjord where we will take a look at the birthplace of Jón Sigurdsson who was at the forefront of the Icelandic battle of independence in the 19th century. From there we pass on to Dynjandi, a very beautiful waterfall at the end of Arnarfjörður. Next we move on over Dynjandisheiði road to Vatnsfjörður Nature Reserve and to Látrabjarg where we will have the golden oppertunity to observe a vivid birdlife. Látrabjarg is on of the highest bird cliffs in Europe and the westernmost point of Europe. I the evenig we head back to Hotel Flókalundur for an overnight stay. An especially nice feature is a stroll down to the seashore in the middle of the evening for a warm bath in a hot pool located there.

Day two:
We drive through Barðaströnd beach and Kollafjarðarheiði mountain road to Ísafjarðardjúp bay on a very rough jeep-track in 600 m. We proceed to Snæfjallaströnd with a stop over at Kaldalón lagoon to witness the carving of the glacier Drangajökull. Our second overnight stay will be at Reykjanes where we can make ourselves comfortable in a warm and cosy geothermal swimming pool under the open sky.

Day three:
We return to Ísafjörður through Ísafjarðardjúp with it´s unique natural sights. Almost certainly we will see colourful birdlife and seals relaxing on rocks by the sea. With some luck we may even spot dolphins or minke whales. On our return to Ísafjörður we will visit places of interest in town before we take the flight back to Reykjavík in the evening.
